Lillis Jo Warr

Lillis Jo Warr, age 84, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of September 21, 2026.
Lillis was born on April 16, 1942, to Joseph Russell and Elizabeth Winn Scott. She married the love of her life, Merlin Warr, on March 2, 1957. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they shared nearly 70 years of marriage, building a beautiful life centered around their family, faith, and love for one another.
Lillis and Merlin raised four children: three sons, Rick, Guy, and Jerry, and one daughter, Christy. Her family continued to grow to include eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandbaby on the way, along with many nieces, nephews, and others who lovingly called her Aunt Jo.
Lillis dedicated many years of her career to the Tooele County School District, where she served as the lunch manager at Grantsville Elementary School. She loved the children and took great pride in the many years she spent serving her school community.
Lillis was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Throughout her life, she faithfully served in many callings and loved her Savior. One of her greatest joys was doing family history work. She received a letter of recognition for indexing more than one million names, a remarkable accomplishment that reflected her love for Temple work and her dedication to preserving history.
Lillis found some of her greatest happiness in bringing her family together. She loved family parties, gatherings, and creating memories with the people she loved most. She was always one of her family's biggest supporters, whether she was cheering from the ball fields or supporting them at hunting camps. Her family was her greatest joy, and she never missed an opportunity to show them how much she loved them.
Lillis is survived by her loving husband, Merlin Warr; sons, Guy (Fay) Warr and Jerry (Kristy) Warr; son-in-law, Kirk Gibson; sister, Claudia Phillips and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other beloved family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Russell and Elizabeth Winn Scott; sisters, Helen Roten and Ranae Blaisure; brothers, Keith Scott and Udell Scott; son, Rick Warr; and daughter, Christy Gibson.
Lillis leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, service, and family. Her greatest gift was the love she gave so freely to those around her. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Funeral services will be held on September 28, 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Church on Apple Street with a viewing from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Graveside services will follow at the Grantsville Cemetery.
