In Loving Memory of Victor A. Trujillo
It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Victor A. Trujillo, who left us on November 5, 2024, in Tooele, Utah, at the age of 61 due to acute respiratory failure. Victor was born on February 25, 1963, in Tooele, Utah, to Bernie and Carmen Trujillo, and was the fifth of nine children.
From an early age, Victor’s presence in the world was larger than life. He was a son, a brother, a husband, a father, and, most proudly, a Papa. His love for his family knew no bounds, and he was blessed with a large, tight-knit family who cherished him deeply. Victor’s life was defined by his remarkable spirit, strength, and passion for adventure.
At the age of 17, he proudly enlisted in the Utah Army National Guard, joining the Engineering Company specializing in demolitions in August of 1980. After a year of service, he was honorably discharged in May 1981.
On November 21, 1981, Victor married the love of his life, Charlene. Their love and bond would endure for nearly 43 years, a testament to the deep connection they shared. Three months after their marriage, they were blessed with the birth of their beautiful daughter, Cherlene “Lena” Marie. In addition to his loving wife and daughter, Victor was most proud of his role as a grandfather to his cherished granddaughter, Elena DeHerrera.
Victor’s professional life was as varied and colorful as his personality. He worked in the sand and gravel industry, ran heavy equipment, and enjoyed tinkering with cars for family and friends. Later, he found his calling as an Environmental Technician for Lockheed Martin at Dugway, Utah.
Though short in stature, Victor’s personality was anything but small. He was gregarious, outgoing, and a natural leader. A true innovator, he could turn any situation into something special and exciting. Many would describe him as “impossible to define” because he was always so much more than expected. His adventurous spirit led him to take life by the horns, never backing down from a challenge and always proving doubters wrong. Whether it was a new project or a hobby, Victor made everything he touched better.
Victor was a man of many passions. He was an audiophile, always striving to hear his favorite bands – Led Zeppelin, Journey, Judas Priest, Queensryche, and many more – in the finest sound quality possible. Music was his soul, and he couldn’t resist singing along to the tunes that fueled his heart. He also loved gathering around a roaring fire with family and friends, enjoying the warmth of the flames, a cold beer, and a shot of whiskey.
Victor’s interests extended far beyond music. He loved to explore caves, fish, hunt, and was an avid stargazer. His curiosity led him to collect crystals, play the guitar, and create beautiful pieces of jewelry. The world will be a little quieter without his laughter, his music, and his endless sense of adventure, but we find comfort in knowing that Victor is continuing his hobbies in Heaven.
He was preceded in death by his beloved grandfather, Bernabe Trujillo; his father, Bernie Trujillo; his dear little brother, Benjamin; and his young nephew, Isaac Trujillo. Victor is survived by his loving wife, Char Trujillo; his daughter, Lena Trujillo, and granddaughter, Elena DeHerrera; his mother, Carmen Trujillo; his brothers, Alex Trujillo, Johnny Trujillo, David (Vanessa) Trujillo, Danny Trujillo, Chris (Janet) Trujillo, and Sammy Trujillo; and his sister, Margaret (Ted) Cunningham. He is also survived by numerous nieces, great-nieces, nephews, and great-nephews, all of whom will miss him dearly.
Victor’s spirit, laughter, and love will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him. He was a man of incredible strength, kindness, and generosity. He may no longer walk among us, but his love and legacy will remain, forever etched in our memories.
Rest in peace, Victor. You will forever be loved and missed.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 23, at 3 p.m. at the Eagles FOE, located at 50 S 1st Street, Tooele, Utah. Please wear your favorite rock band T-shirt in honor of Victor.
