Vicente G. Montoya was born on January 22, 1938. At the age of 83 on January 26, 2021 he passed away in the comfort of his home surrounded by his wife and children. Born in Celaya, Gto. Mexico, he was the son of Luis Montoya and Andrea Gasca, both deceased.
He was a 3rd generation cobbler, taught by his mother and father. Vicente lived most of his life in Plainview, TX, where he ran his own business; El Vaquero Boot and Shoe repair. He was well- known and a pillar in the community due to his service and love of volunteer work.
He married Martha Luna on Oct 9, 1963. After having been taught the gospel by two young missionaries. Vicente joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1963, and were sealed in the Dallas, Texas Temple in April of 1986.
The most important thing in his life was his family. He would always boast about how many children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren he had. His other passions included reading and gardening.
Vicente will be greatly missed by his wife, Martha Montoya, children; Martha Calderon (Rodolfo), Juan V. Montoya (Valerie), Carlota Montoya (Francisco), Monica Budge (Jared- deceased), Claudia E. Krieser (Eric), Aida Sanchez (Cesar), Dina Montoya, Eduardo Montoya (Cecilia) and Roxana Johnson (Mark), 42 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Vicente Montoya, 2 sisters and 1 brother.
There will be a family viewing on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 417 Benson Rd., Stansbury Park, Ut followed by a Service.
