Steven Fischer

1968 - 2016
Our beloved father, brother, husband, and friend, Steven "Scot" Fischer passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at the age of 47. Scot was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on September 10, 1968, to Helmut and Shirley Fischer. Scot attended Hillcrest High School and Salt Lake Community College and later served an LDS mission to St. Louis, Missouri. Missouri always held a special place in his heart and he loved to tell stories about his time there. Scot worked in the copier industry for 20+ years, and most recently with Automated Business Products. He made many lasting friendships at work. Scot married the love of his life Shaunell "Shawnee" New on January 18, 1996, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple for time and all eternity. Together they have three amazing kids whom he dearly loved. He was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many different callings. He loved to serve the people of his ward, especially when he got to work with the youth. He looked forward to spending every Wednesday night with 'his boys,' watching them develop into fine young men. Scot loved to be in the outdoors, especially fishing with his family. His family was his life. He would spend every waking minute with them. Scot always had the biggest smile on his face, and that is what we will miss the most. Survived by his wife, Shawnee, and his three children, Shaylei (19), Jayden (17) and Kaylei (12); mother, Shirley; siblings, Ryan (Drew), Bonnie Bennett (Allan), Robert (Diana); in-laws, Bob and LuGene New, Darren New, Kori Wakamatsu (Josh); and many nieces and nephews. Scot was preceded in death by his father, Helmut, and nephew, Caydin. A viewing will be held Thursday, May 5, 2016, from 6-8 p.m. at the Grantsville 6th Ward Chapel located at 81 Church Street in Grantsville. Funeral services will be Friday, May 6, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the Grantsville 6th Ward Chapel, with a viewing beginning at 10 a.m. Interment at Grantsville City Cemetery, 350 W. Main Street, Grantsville, Utah. In lieu of flowers, donations are accepted at any Cyprus Credit Union under the name of Steven Scot Fischer. The family would like to express appreciation for the great outpouring of love and generosity.
