Richard George Sanborn
Richard George Sanborn passed away peacefully at home Sunday, May 22, 2011 from complications of melanoma.
He was born April 21, 1933 in Castle Dale, Utah to David George and Dora Mae Zwahlen Sanborn. He married his high school sweetheart, Donna Gwen Parkinson, Oct. 10, 1952. They are the parents of David Allen, Dorice, DeAnn (Fred) Nelson, Debbi Lynne (David) Cagle and Don Carl. They have 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He served in the United States Air Force 1953-1957. He retired from government service in 1984. He loved music and sang with the Salt Air Show Chorus and had many church callings in music. He was active as a leader in Scouting and served many years as an ordinance worker in the Jordan River and Salt Lake temples. He passionately loved genealogy. He was a substitute teacher for the Tooele County School District and really enjoyed working with the children.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years and children; brother Hugh Kenneth (Kay) Nielson and wife Ruby; sister Tricia Harris and husband Richard. Grandchildren are Nathan, Michael, Kathy, Ben, Daniel, Jon, Josh, Bryan, Jeffrey, Kristen, Samuel, Jennifer, Chris and Morgan; great grandchildren Brian, Kira and Tamara.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 28 at 11 a.m. in the Grantsville Clark Second Ward at 81 N. Church Street, Grantsville, with a viewing one hour before. Burial will be in the Grantsville Cemetery.
