Nelda Obray
Our beautiful loved one, Nelda Isabelle Russell Obray passed away peacefully in St George, Utah, surrounded by her daughter, granddaughters & great-granddaughter on August 25, 2011. Born in Knightsville (Eureka), Utah on April 22, 1928 to Thomas Henry Russell and Bertha Althera Bechtol, Nelda spent her 85 years nurturing a generous & adventurous spirit. While she lived her entire life in Utah, she traveled literally around the world and was looking forward to going to China and Russia as her last traveling goals. An avid gardener, she liked nothing better than having an unusual flower or fruit in her yard and never went to town without a stop at the garden center. She loved to fish and regretted getting too old to get to the ‘good’ fishing spots. Devoted to her family, we will forever miss her quick smile & warm, enveloping hugs. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Stewart (Craig) of Las Vegas, Nevada; son, Richard Obray of Fairfax, Virginia; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and brother Toby Russell of Portland, Oregon and many nieces and nephews. She was greeted at her passing by her son, Harley Evan Russell Obray; grandson, John Franklin Obray; her parents, and 8 siblings: Lucille Kelley (Karl), Thomas Russell (Helene), Arlene Branagan (Sheldon), Ervin Russell, Lavern Russell, Mildred Starostka Baker, Donald Russell (Artis), Harold Russell (Ethel). Graveside services will be held in her honor on Saturday, September 3, at 10a.m., at Tooele City Cemetery family plot. For more information contact Didericksen Memorial at 435-277-0050.
