Kristine Huffaker

Kristine Egbert Huffaker returned peacefully home to her Father in Heaven on March 3rd after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born September 1, 1960 to Richard Charles and Marilyn Egbert of Kearns, Utah. She graduated Kearns High School class of 1978, and married Dale Huffaker in the SLC temple June 26, 1982. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she served in positions in every organization. Among her favorites were Sports director, Primary, Young Womens leader and Camp Director. She always put others first and served many years as an EMT and first responder. She enjoyed the outdoors and loved camping when she could still sleep on the ground. One of her favorite vacations was the trip to Yellowstone Park. She was able to stay home and raise her three children which has been a blessing in her life as well as theirs. She moved to Rush Valley in 1995 and enjoyed the more relaxed lifestyle of the country, but after 9 years, the weeds, dust and heating with coal took its toll on her lungs and her Dr’s advised her to move to the city. Everywhere she went she always made friends easily and brightened the room with laughter whenever she walked in, but when she moved into the Tooele 6th ward in 2004 she developed an immediate bond with her new BFF. In 2007 she was diagnosed with breast cancer and after surgery, Chemotherapy and radiation felt that she had won the battle. When it returned in 2013 it hit with a vengeance. Each treatment took its toll on her body. She received transfusions and IV’s for dehydration, and many times had to be supported as she staggered to her treatments but even through all this she remained positive and lifted many through laughter. After two rounds of chemo her kidneys started to fail beginning the summer of 2014. Throughout her final struggles she remained positive and lifted many through laughter. She is survived by her husband Dale Huffaker, Mother Marylyn Mott, children: Stefanie (Michael) Moore, Jarod (Melissa) Huffaker and Heidi (Casey) Fuger as well as six grandchildren, a brother, Brent (Shawna) Egbert, and sisters, Carolyn (Dennis) Carty, RuthAnn (John) Putnam, Julie (Tom) Carrillo, and Meleta Egbert. She is preceded by her father and brother Ronnie Egbert. She loved her family very much, especially her Grandchildren, who were her inspiration to fight so hard and so long. A viewing will be held in her honor at 777 East Skyline Drive from 6-8 Sunday March 8. Funeral services will be Monday March 9 at noon in the LDS building on 253 South 2nd East. Services entrusted with Didericksen Memorial, 435-277-0050.
