Kerry Grant Steed, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away Oct 14th 2015. He fought a long and valiant battle with cancer that lasted over 6 years. He was very strong and fought very hard to stay with us but the Lord had greater plans. He was born Nov 11th 1948 to Grant S. Steed and Lorna K McCrary in Ogden, Utah. He married his sweetheart, Karen Elaine Bennett on 25 Sept 1969 in Brigham City Utah. They've spent 46 years together. Together, they had two sons, Juston Grant Steed and Casey Steed. Kerry loved his family, and his friends, but most of all his little grandson Dakota. Kerry thought Dakota hung the moon. He also loved country music as well as Bluegrass. He and his sister Dixie traveled to many bluegrass festivals throughout the country. When Kerry was about 8 the family moved to Yuma, Arizona where he attended CW McGraw Elementary, Gila Vista Jr High, and Kofa High School. Due to his father's illness, the family moved back to Utah where he attended Bear River High School. He joined the Army Feb 28, 1968. He proudly served his country. He worked at Utility Trailer in Clearfield Utah. He then moved to Tooele and became a certified welder at Tooele Army Depot. When Tooele Army Depot abolished his job, Kerry selflessly took a job as a welder in Corpus Christi Texas in order to provide for his family. Kerry is survived by Karen E Bennett Steed, Juston Grant Steed, Casey Steed (Jackie) and his grandson, Dakota the moon hanger. He is also survived by one sister, Dixie Lee Steed Wilson (Mike) and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his youngest sister Holly Dawn Steed Chavez, and a daughter-in-law Tracy Jacobsen Steed. He is loved and will be terribly missed. Til we meet again Kerry. Rest in Peace. We will see you soon...but not yet. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 19th at the Tooele Utah East Stake Center located at 751 N 520 E (7th Street) Tooele, Utah. Viewing will be from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM. Services will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at the Tooele City Cemetery.
