Joe DeHerrera

1950-2013
On Saturday, October 19, 2013, our very special angel returned to heaven. Joe Gilbert DeHerrera (Jackie) was born December 22, 1950 to Gilbert and Inez DeHerrera in Center, Colorado. He grew up in Center where he worked hard with his father and brothers until 1968 when he left to serve his country. During this time he traveled to many places and came home with many stories. In 1981 he met and fell in love with his soul mate, Virginia. They then moved to Tooele where he worked at Deseret Chemical Depot until he retired in 2008. He loved to be with his family. He especially loved the time he spent watching his boys play football and taking long drives with his daughter. He loved everyone and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He always took time out to make everyone feel special. He took pride in his family. He loved to brag about his children, especially his baby girl, Inez. Jackie and Virginia shared a rare kind of love that you usually only find in fairy tales. He is survived by his wife, Virginia; daughter, Inez; sons', Jackie (Kenzie), Daniel (Joell), and Adam (KeKe) DeHerrera; his loving mother, Inez DeHerrera. He is also survived by brothers and sisters: Janice, Steve, Louise, Michael, Leroy, Anthony, Charles, and Arnold; his special Uncle Frank and Aunt Susan DeHerrera; his five beautiful grandchildren; his special Godson, Isaiah; also many nieces and nephews, including Steve, Jeremy, Josh, Gilbert, Danny, Isaac, Stephanie, and Crystal, who were very special to him. He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert DeHerrera; son, Henry DeHerrera; and sister-in-law, Barbara Apodaca. Jackie, you will be greatly missed and will forever be in our hearts. W love you more than words could ever express. Visitation will be at 11:00 am on Thursday at St. Marguerites Catholic Church with funeral mass to follow at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at Tooele City Cemetery. Services entrusted with Didericksen Memorial, 435-277-0050.
