Our sister, mom, grandma, and great-grandmother Frances Velasquez passed away today December 14, 2023.
Frances was a very selfless person. She was good at giving all her material things away, sometimes even her last $10.
Everyone called her "mom" or "Granny Franny," as her great-niece Red called her.
Frances was born in Cedar Hills, New Mexico on January 19th, 1942 to Jose A. Martinez and Pauline Garcia.
Married to Martin Velasquez and later divorced.
Frances grew up in Magna, Utah. She spent all of her adult life there. She also raised her family there. Raising her own kids plus her youngest brother, Beto, and baby sister, Marti, which meant she really wasn't able to work until they reached adulthood.
She helped care for her elderly parents. After a few years, she got sick and had to move to Grantsville, Utah so her daughter Sheri could care for her.
Preceded in death by her parents; brother Mondo; sisters Margaret and and Nelia; as well as her son Tracy (Geri) Velasquez.
Survived by her daughter, Sheri (Scott) Wiley; and her son, Marty Velasquez; siblings: LeRoy (Judy) Martinez, Beto (Carla) Martinez and Marti (Jeff) Searle; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and 4 step-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held at the Old Grantsville Church (297 W Clark St, Grantsville) on Saturday, December 30th at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at the Grantsville City Cemetery. Afterwards, family and friends are invited to a luncheon back at the Old Grantsville Church.
