Don Vance Loper

January 16, 1944 — November 24, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Don Vance Loper, a beloved father, friend, and adventurer, on November 24, 2024. Born on January 16, 1944, in Portland Oregon, Don spent most of his life in Utah, where he embraced the beauty of nature and the outdoors.

A lover of life’s adventures, Don found joy in hiking, camping, fishing, kayaking, and his lifelong passion for archery. A champion marksman shooter, he was both skilled and humble in his pursuits. As an artisan, Don crafted handmade treasures that reflected his creativity and love for detail.

Don had a sharp sense of humor and was a master practical joker, often bringing laughter to those around him. He was a man of many talents, including playing the harmonica and sharing his love for music. Animals were drawn to his kind spirit, and he had a deep affection for them.

Don proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as a Navy electrical technician, where his expertise, resourcefulness and dedication played a vital role in supporting military operations.

He had a profound appreciation for science and the wonders of the universe, often spending time gazing at the stars by a camp fire, marveling at their beauty and the mysteries they held.

In his later years, Don found solace in reading and discussing philosophy, particularly metaphysics and spiritualism. Those who were fortunate to know him closely witnessed the sentimental heart beneath his rugged exterior. His favorite mantra, "As above, so below," captured his reflective and philosophical nature.

Don is survived by his children: Clint Loper, Stormy (Loper) Wren, Candice Loper, and Camille (Loper) Jackson, as well as countless friends who cherished his presence. He will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered forever.
