Clayton "Norman" Day

On November 23, 2018 Norman moved on from this world surrounded by his loving family. He took that 2 a.m. train ride to the sky after a long courageous battle with kidney failure.

He was born in Hoquiam, Washington on June 26, 1938 to Evelyn and Clayton “Smokey” Day. Norman married Karen Rennaker on October 28, 1961 in Salmon, Idaho. And to this union 3 children were born, Terry, Sherry and Don.

Norman worked for the Forest Service while in the National Guard. He served 8 years in the National Guard. Norman then went to work for Van Evans Plywood Mill in Missoula, Mt. In 1964 he was co-owner of the Conoco Gas Station in Lolo, Mt. In 1968 he went to work for the Milwaukee Rail Road, then relocated to Salt Lake City, Ut in 1980. There he went to work for the Denver Rio Grande Rail Road which became the Union Pacific Rail Road. Norman retired in May, 2004.

Norman’s passion was collecting and building HO model trains. He also owned and operated The Hobby Emporium where he made a lot of lifetime friends with the same passion.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Ezra and Ruby father Clayton and his mother Evelyn. Survived by his wife Karen, daughter Terry, daughter Sherry (Rob), son Don (Tammy), brother Harold (Linda), 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Viewing will be held on December 1, 2018 at 2 p.m. and the service at 3 p.m. at Peel Funeral Home (8525 W. 2700 S.) in Magna, Utah.
