We regretfully announce the passing of Christopher John Hislop of Grantsville, UT age 44. Chris passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2023, after his hard fought 12 ½ year battle with brain cancer.
He was born to John and Deanna (Smith) Hislop on June 9, 1978 in Tooele, UT. He graduated from GHS in 1996, then attended USU in Logan, UT. Chris served a LDS mission to Kaohsiung, Taiwan, from 1999-2001. Chris loved working with kids within the America Reads program before moving on to UPS as a truck driver. After his cancer diagnosis, Chris spent the remainder of his life surrounded by family and extended family in Grantsville.
Chris was known to many as Uncle Chris. There wasn’t a kid he didn’t want to spoil. Whether it was a line of kids following him to the concession stand or him buying Gatorade for the whole team, he loved giving gifts. Chris would make friends everywhere he went using laughter, jokes, and sarcasm.
An adventurous and creative person from the beginning; he loved Star Wars, Legos, video games, football, rock climbing, mountain biking, hockey, art, photography, and languages.
Chris will be missed by his parents and siblings; Justin, Jody, Rachel Davis (Brian), Matthew (Mercedes), nieces and nephews; Cameron & Reagan Wexels, Corbin & Afton Hislop, Freya & Dominic Davis, and Lucian Hislop, along with many extended family and friends.
Chris was preceded in death by his grandparents; George Lynn & Rachel Ardella Smith and Donald R & Agnes Adell Hislop, uncle; Arthur R Nelson, cousins; Gregory Lee Smith & Annie Kathleen Hislop.
A viewing will be held Sunday, March 26, from 6-8 PM and funeral services will be held Monday, March 27, at 11:00 AM in the LDS Church at 428 S Hale Street in Grantsville. Interment will follow at the new Grantsville City North Cemetery.

Chris never felt bad for himself. Instead of saying “Why me?” he said, “Why not me?”
The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at the Huntsman Cancer Institute and Huntsman Hospice Care.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in memory of Chris Hislop to Huntsman Cancer Research designation Neuro (brain and spinal cord) or Children’s Cancer.
