Bernard Lynn Walker passed away December 13, 2015 in his home, in Grantsville, Utah from his earthly life as a faithful and spiritual member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Lynn was born April 11, 1943 in American Fork, Utah. He was the oldest of eight children to Bernard (Barney) & Edith Powell Walker. Lynn served his country by joining the Army National Guard in 1960. He graduated from Orem High School in 1961. He continued his education by attending Weltech College (formerly Salt Lake School of Electronics). He was Top Honor Student in his graduating class. He continued his education at Glendale and Phoenix colleges. He also did a lot of self-learning. Lynn served a two year mission to the US Central State Mission in 1963 for the Church. He was ordained a Seventy in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Elder Thomas Monson. In Arizona he served two Stake Missions, and in Utah both Carolyn and Lynn served as Service Missionaries. Lynn and Carolyn Elaine Brimhall were married June 2, 1965 in the Salt Lake Temple. They moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1966, where they raised six children. For 40 years Lynn worked for General Electric Computer Department, which subsequently transitioned through company names of Honeywell, Bull, and then Bull HN. His work included the roles of Electronic Technician, Computer Technician, Diagnostic Programmer, and Software Engineer. In 2005 they moved to Grantsville, Utah, and have lived there ever since. Some of his Church callings through the years include Home Teacher, Primary Teacher, Scout Leader, Counselor in presidencies of Elders quorum and Stake Sunday School, Seventies Group leader, Secretaries for Seventies quorum, High Priest group, Area Public Communications, Ward Finance Clerk, Executive Secretary to two Bishops, Ward and Stake Single Representatives, and Ward Family History Consultant. Lynn’s interest included hiking, camping, gardening, ham amateur radio, computers, photography, web software development, and family history. Lynn is survived by his wife Carolyn, Son David (Marisol) Walker. Daughters Launie Hone, Jennifer (Mike) Maughan, Paulette (James) Inman, Jodie (Will) Jolley, four Brothers Kay, Terry, Troy, Tony, and one sister Judy Middleton. He is preceded in death by both parents, one son Eugene Murvel, one sister Patricia, one brother Garn, and one Grandson Hayden Hone. The family wishes to extend a Special Thanks to the members of the Grantsville 11th ward for their devoted love and prayers and many hours of service and assistances, as well as Nurse Dawn Black and all the staff of Huntsman Cancer Institute, during Lynn’s battle with Leukemia. A viewing will be held on Monday, December 21st at Didericksen Memorial (87 W Main, Grantsville) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held December 22nd in the 11th Ward Chapel (410 Shelley Ln, Grantsville) at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing one hour prior to service at the same location.
