Audrey Fern Drysdale Phelps, a former resident of the Blackfoot, Idaho area, passed away in her daughter's home in Grantsville, Utah, surrounded by her family, on June 4, 2013. She was 86 years old, and died of natural causes related to age. Fern was born August 29, 1926 in Christopher, Illinois, to Isaac and Callie Drysdale, and was the 4th of 13 children. She grew up in Southern Illinois where she met Lawrence Robin Phelps. They were married January 5, 1946, and they had 10 children. Their second child, Jonnie Mark, died at 8 months old. In 1960, she moved with her children to Thomas, Idaho. Lawrence soon joined her, and together they raised their family in the Snake River school district. Fern was very active in the LDS church, and devoted her whole life to serving her children and her God. She and Lawrence divorced in 1972 and they both remained unmarried. Lawrence preceded her in death August 22, 1996. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Kimberly Fern Phelps Scott, and 2 infant great-granddaughters. Our mother has left a legacy of faith, and we will miss her so much! She is survived by her children, Karen (Dennis) Hone, Blackfoot, Idaho; Robin (Ken) White, Bountiful, Utah; Brenton (Lar) Phelps, Firth, Idaho; Brad (Ruth) Phelps, Grantsville, Utah; Darla (Larry) Allen, South Jordan, Utah; Hal (Janis) Phelps, Groveland, Idaho; Dee Ann (Darrell) Allen, Grantsville, Utah; Kathy (Trent) Baker, Grantsville, Utah; Rick (Janell) Phelps, Grantsville, Utah. Also, 58 grandchildren, and 121 great-grandchildren; 6 siblings: Fay Key, of Christopher, IL; Frank Drysdale, Sesser, IL; Gay Hall, Benton, IL; Myrna Hamilton, Chattanooga, TN; Marion Drysdale, St. Louis, MO; Nita Wright, Benton, IL; And many nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held Friday, June 14, from 7 - 9 p.m. at the Grantsville LDS Stake Center, 550 E. Durfee St, Grantsville, UT. The funeral services will also be held in the Stake Center on Saturday, June 15, at 11:00 a.m. (viewing 9:30 - 10:40 a.m.) Services entrusted with Didericksen Memorial, 435-277-0050.
