Annabelle Scott

November 20, 1940 — December 15, 2019

Annabelle Scott

Ann passed away peacefully in her home with her family by her side Dec. 15, 2019. She had been battling breast cancer that had spread to her brain for two years, but now is present with the Lord.

Ann was born in Williamsburg, Iowa, on Nov. 20, 1940, to Raymond and Thelma Kettell. Her father was a Grace Brethren pastor, so from a very young age, Ann has been involved in small churches throughout the Midwest. She attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois, where she met her future husband Richard Scott. They were married in 1962 and had three daughters.

She received her bachelor’s degree in Christian education and a minor in elementary education. She and Richard made a great team. As a pastor’s wife, she loved playing the piano, teaching Sunday School and organizing all church activities. She loved Christmas programs, vacation Bible School, pot lucks, and doing everything to help promote unity in the church. In 1975 Richard joined the United States Army as a Chaplain. She was excited for each new assignment. They traveled from Pennsylvania to Augusta, Georgia; Stuttgart, Germany; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Giessen, Germany; Tooele, Utah; and Monterey, California. With each assignment, she had many different jobs. She worked as a teacher, children’s day care director, and with child development with the civil service.

In 1994 they left the Army and moved to Idaho. She once again was busy with two churches now; one in Preston and one in Malad. They were there for five years before moving to Brigham City where they remained for 17 years. She loved the people and the ministry she had there. In 2006 they started traveling to Lake Havasu City for five months out of the year. It wasn’t long before she got involved in Hymn Sing, which was a small church service for the snowbirds at Crazy Horse campground. They kept busy almost every day of the week. Ann made friends wherever she went. She was greatly blessed by them and brought joy to others. We will all miss her.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Scott; daughters, Teresa King (Roy), Dawn Howsden (Mike), Rebecca Lewis (Mason); grandchildren, Lauren Kelly (Caleb), Shannon Lee (Chris), Alexis Chadwick (Preston), Andrea Howsden, Scott Howsden, Maci Lewis and Jessica Lewis; and great-grandchildren, Eevee Chadwick, Kara Kelly, and Skylie Chadwick.

A special thanks to Dr. Chandramouli with the Utah Cancer Specialist, and Rocky Mountain Home Health and Hospice Care.
