Afton Warburton

Afton Maland Warburton, 83 years young, sweetly passed from this earth Saturday, June 13, 2015, at her home in Grantsville, UT. She will be greatly missed by those who lived at “the compound” and those who lived away from here also. She was born November 14, 1931 in Lake Shore, UT to William H. and Zina Maland. Being the youngest child, she was used to getting all the attention she wanted. She had two brothers, Earl and Reed, and two sisters, Norma and Sarah, all who have preceded her in death. She married her sweetheart, Jerry H. Warburton, on February 24, 1951 in Elko, Nevada. They spent all the time they could together, hunting, fishing and exploring the Utah West Desert until he passed away in November 24, 1986. They were sealed together for time and all eternity on September 1, 2012 in the Salt Lake Temple. She spent 5 months traveling around Alaska but returned to the desert living in Grantsville during the summer and Quartzsite, Arizona in the winter. She will be deeply missed by her Quartzsite friends and all the fun times they had together. She is survived by her three children, Rebecca (Lynn) Taylor, Grantsville, David (Annette) Warburton, Grantsville, and Jeff (Louise) Warburton, LaPoint, UT. Also survived by 9 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren and many others who called her Mom. She helped everyone who needed her, especially if it was something to do with quilting. She has made hundreds of quilts, selling some and giving most away. We love her but know her life on earth is finished and she has a great work to do on the other side of the veil. We love you Mom, Grandma, Sister, Aunt and Friend. A viewing will be held Thursday, June 18 from 11:00 to 12:00 at the Grantsville 9th ward, 415 West Apple, Grantsville. Interment will follow at Valley View Memorial Park in West Valley City. Services entrusted with Didericksen Memorial, 435-277-0050.
